Under the Uttar Pradesh rooftop solar framework, residential consumers can avail Central Financial Assistance (CFA) under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana along with an additional state-level top-up incentive administered by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). The central subsidy follows the national slab structure of ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, with a maximum limit of ₹78,000 per household.
Uttar Pradesh provides a flat state top-up subsidy that is income-independent, making the process simple and accessible to all eligible residential consumers. The state offers ₹15,000 per kW for 1 kW systems and ₹30,000 for systems of 2 kW and above (capped at ₹30,000). This means a 1 kW system can receive ₹45,000 total subsidy (₹30,000 central + ₹15,000 state), a 2 kW system can receive ₹90,000 (₹60,000 central + ₹30,000 state), and a 3 kW system can receive ₹1,08,000 (₹78,000 central + ₹30,000 state). For systems larger than 3 kW, the total subsidy remains capped at ₹1,08,000, as both central and state components have defined upper limits.
The subsidy is applicable only for residential, grid-connected rooftop solar systems installed through approved vendors and is disbursed after successful installation, inspection, and net-metering approval by the concerned DISCOM. The amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
